Smart b-roll

B-roll cut in automatically

Slice cuts in b-roll that matches what you're saying — like you spent an hour editing.

A-roll detection

Your best takes, found automatically

Slice finds your strongest talking-to-camera moments and builds your a-roll spine automatically.

Customization

Your call. Your pace.

Tight, Balanced, or Relaxed — choose how fast you want the cuts. Tight fits more footage in with quick cuts; Relaxed lets each shot breathe. Re-edit from the results screen without re-analyzing.

XML export

Take it to Premiere or Resolve

Every vlog exports an XML timeline compatible with Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve — a-roll on V1, b-roll on V2, all source clips referenced. Open it, refine it, done.

Today's Prompt

Never wonder what to film

The biggest reason vloggers go dark is not knowing what to say. Every morning, Slice generates a personalized prompt based on your history — so you pick up the camera instead of talking yourself out of it.

TODAY'S PROMPT
Personalized to your history

"You've been filming a lot at home lately. What's one thing about your space you've never actually described out loud?"

Slow rack focus from foreground clutter to whatever's in the background.

Pick a plan. Keep vlogging.

Common questions.

Getting started
Any video you shoot on your iPhone, DSLR, or action cam. The best results come from a mix of talking-to-camera a-roll and b-roll of what's happening around you — but even a-roll only works fine.
No. Even a handful of b-roll clips makes a big difference. Slice will use what you have and fill the rest with your a-roll. The more variety you give it, the better the cuts — but it works with whatever you filmed.
Clips under 2 seconds are skipped automatically. For a-roll, 30 seconds to a few minutes is ideal. For b-roll, 5–15 seconds per shot gives the best material to cut with.
Video: MP4, MOV, M4V, AVI, MKV, MTS, M2TS, and WEBM. You can also drop in photos (JPG, PNG, HEIC, WEBP) — they become smooth Ken Burns b-roll. If your camera shot it, it almost certainly works.
The output
Yes. Captions are off by default — flip the toggle in the configure screen to burn them directly into the video so they show on every platform without uploading a separate file. When captions are on, an SRT sidecar also exports alongside, so you can upload it to YouTube or use it in your editor.
The app scores every clip for quality — brightness, sharpness, and clarity of speech. Clips that are too dark, blurry, or very short get filtered automatically. Before it builds, the review screen lets you add any clip back, reorder, drop, or rotate clips — and re-render the same footage later and your changes are remembered.
Technical
Your video files never leave your Mac. Transcription and video assembly run entirely on your device. A small number of image frames (not your full video) are sent to Anthropic's AI for clip analysis and b-roll matching — the same way a photo editing app might send a thumbnail for analysis. Frames are not stored or used for training.
A typical daily vlog renders in 3–8 minutes on Apple Silicon. 4K is slower than 1080p. Re-edits skip the AI analysis step so they're faster, but still take a few minutes to encode.
Editing & export
Yes — every render exports an XML timeline compatible with both Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve. A-roll is on V1, b-roll on V2, all source clips referenced. Open it, refine it, done.
Yes. The re-edit panel on the results screen lets you change pacing, caption style, or orientation and re-render without waiting for the AI to re-analyze your footage. The encode still takes a few minutes but the slow analysis step is skipped.
Purchase
Slice of Life is a subscription, starting with a 7-day free trial with every feature unlocked. Basic is $10/month (60 credits, 1080p, Vlog mode only), Pro is $20/month (150 credits, 4K, Voiceover and B-roll modes, unlimited Shorts, the YouTube kit, and every caption style). Annual plans get two months free. Cancel anytime — you keep access through the end of your billing period.
Credits cover the cost of AI processing — analyzing your clips, matching b-roll, and building the edit. Most daily vlogs cost 1–2 credits (up to 5 for very large footage batches). Your credits refresh every billing cycle — 60/month on Basic, 150/month on Pro. Need more before your next cycle? Top-up packs are available from $15.
